Residual pesticide exceeding standard from shallot from South Korea detected

Health Ministry executed inspection instruction

By JCPRESS

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare executed the inspection instruction to import traders on November 4 because the pesticide that exceeded the standard from the shallot from South Korea had been detected.

The detected pesticide is "Procymidone" with the bactericidal action. The standard 5ppm that Food Sanitation Law provided was exceeded by about 2.4 times.

The quarantine station in Kansai International Airport confirmed the violation case twice about June and November this year.

The import trader cannot import the shallot from South Korea in the future if safety is not proven by the inspection.
