Human rights recovery, permanent relief are pressing needs for Kanemi Oil Poisoning victims


Victims strained voice with tears

The Kanemi Oil Poisoning Incident Victims Support Center opened meeting "It could not be good in the Kanemi Oil Poisoning Incident recognition system and suspense payable problem" on December 9, and adopted the meeting declaration to request a human rights recovery of the victim and a complete, permanent relief for "Human rights day" on December 10.

Victims revealed the disastrous scene of damage, and desired a complete relief straining the voice with tears.

One of participating Diet members swore to victims, "I want to work on the legislation by house members for the relief of the victims".

The Kanemi Oil Poisoning Incident is the biggest food pollution in the history of mankind for the first time directly by the oral due to the polychlorinated biphenyls (PCP) and andpolychlorinated dibenzofuran (PCDF) damage in Japan. 14,000 people or more reported the food poisoning damage.

Kanegafuchi Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., the manufacturer of PCB, and the Canemi warehouse company caused the worst food pollution in 1968.

The mass poisoning, the so-called Kanemi Yusho incident, occurred in western Japan because of cooking oil, or Kanemi rice oil, contaminated during the manufacturing process by PCB and PCDF.

Victims suffer from various symptoms such as "Cancer", "Nerve symptom", "Whole body acute pain", and "Fracture and curve of all limbs" though 36 years passed from the pollution occurrence.

Moreover, the damage doesn't stop in a generation alone who ate Kanemi rice oil, and reachs children and grandchildren.
