Ministry of Transport introduces collisional relaxation into the car bonnet

The aim is to protect walker

By JCPRESS

Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on April 20 that they introduced the pedestrian head protection basis by which the collisional relaxation of the bonnet was provided for the passenger car and a part of freight-train car.

The introduction of the basis is a counter measure reacting to the frequent occurrence of the traffic fatality to which the pedestrian damages his head.

The measuring instrument that imitate man's head is thrown at the car hood, and the shock has been measured. The pass or fail of the car is judged by the measurement result. It applies in September, 2005.

This ministry presumes that it can decrease 100 road fatalities or less a year when the basis is applied to all vehicles.
