Is fluoroplastics products like "Teflon" really safe?


Consumer group requests precautionary safety measure to the government due to anxiety of health that rises inside and outside country

Safety Food Liaison Association, a consumer group in the Kansai area, requested on July 16 that it is necessary to take immediateprecaution measuresy including the safety evaluation for Japanese Government again about the fluoroplastics product , for example, Teflon.

It responded to the administrative action to the U.S. chemical major (Dupon) by United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) about the safety of the chemical substance used as a supplementary agent of the fluorocarbon polymer products.

The fluoroplastics processing technology has been used also for furniture, cosmetics, clothes, and fire extinguisher besides frying-pan.
