Safety controversy aroused much on kindling temperature of a popular "Healthy oil"


Is feature of lower ignite temperature a cause of increasing fire accidents?

"Ignition test of the cooking oil" that The National Consumer Affairs Center of Japan (NCAC) announced in the beginning of October has expanded the controversy.

The center clarified the problem of the test result with "As for the cooking oil that emphasized health, kindling temperatures were about 20 degrees lower than usual oil, and the time to the ignition was also shorter".

Consumers are paying attention to the response of the food processing industry based on the test result.

Consumer groups have the doubt of the factor of an increase of the number of fire accidents with the tempura oil that the decrease in the kindling temperature might be related.
