Enactment of Organic Farming Promotion Law demanded with the JAS review


Farmer-Citizens group has proposed a comprehensible label

Farmer-consumer group that aimed at the production enhancement and the spread of the organic food announced on January 13 the idea, "It is necessary to exclude organic farming from the regulation object of the Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS) Law because the JAS Law that made the regulation of general food features did not become familiar with the organic food, and to settle on Organic Farming Propulsion Law newly".

This announcement is a proposal to keep step with the general revision of the Japanese Agricultural Standard by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

The key official of the group is stressing, "It is more comprehensible for the consumers to settle on the label regulation distinguishing general food and the organic farming food".
