Damage occurred in health food COURY that processed leaf of lotus
Tokyo called for stopping of use

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced on January 18 that it detected medicine element Sibutramine, or Meridia, and "Thyroid gland extractives" from health food "COURY", that had used the Chinese character of precious, elegant greens, that processed the leaf of the lotus.
It is not approved in Japan though Shibtoramin with the appetite control action is used to treat the obesity syndrome in foreign countries.
The Thyroid gland extractives was abused as "Weight-reducing substance" in the past.
The Tokyo Government is asking the consumers for the stopping of use because the health damage doubted that COURY is a cause occurred in Nagano Prefecture. Tokyo ordered the stopping and recalling sales to the company that had treated COURY.
Tokyo also ordered the stopping of sales and recalling the product to the other two companies that sold health foods, dietary supplement, including the medicine element by no permission.
Three companies were acquiring neither approval nor the authorization of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare based on the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law as for each health food though the medicine element was included.
