Kanagawa Prefecture directed marine products wholesaler Foods System Ltd., Isogo Ward, Yokohama City, the business improvement based on the Japanese Agricultural Standard on February 1 because this company had been selling "Bigeye tuna" labeled false as expensive "Bluefin tuna".
After having labeled "Bigeye tuna" false to "Bluefin tuna" at the processed stage, this company was selling it wholesale to the retail stores including the supermarkets.
This company was also labeling "Yellowfin tuna" false to "Bigeye tuna". It camouflaged the label of the tuna that had stocked from October through December of 2004.
When Kanagawa Prefecture that had received the request of the investigation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry executed the investigation of this company from 24th to 28th in January, the Prefecture confirmed the violation fact.
