The Hokkaido police started the compulsory investigation for snack food major Calbee subsidiary company "Calbee potato" to make the farmer grow the potato by using the seed potato that did not receive the inspection of the country.

The event came to light by having generated pest "Potato cyst nematode" in the field in the Minamifurano-cho in Hokkaido.

"Plant Protection Law" that attempts the prevention of the pest and the bacillus that takes a hit on the stability production of agriculture from spreading prohibits taking out the seed potato from the production location without the passing proof of "Quarantine station of the plant"

This company seems to have imported seed potato "Snowden" directly from the United States without receiving the inspection of the quarantine station.

This company placed the comment with "It was not a problem of the safety of food" in the homepage on March 18.
