Government should make amends for all aggrieved parties with achievement of no asbestos society

For asbestos overall ban and fundamental law of asbestos countermeasure

The asbestos countermeasure nationwide coordination meeting, Ban Asbestos Network Japan (BANJAN) that composed of the patient, the family who received the health injury with the carcinogen asbestos, the trade union, the citizens, the consumer group, and researchers started "Signature-obtaining campaign to request the enactment of the fundamental law of the asbestos countermeasure and all of aggrieved parties' amends" of both speaker addressing of the House of Representatives and the House of Councilors on October 22.

Targets of the signature are one million people.This BANJAN and the sustainers asked pedestrians for the signature on a previous street in Yurakuchou Mullion (Tokyo Chiyoda ward-owned easy town) at one o'clock of the afternoon of October 22th.

NoAsbestos

Neither the government nor the enterprise had taken an enough countermeasure though this BANJAN had appealed for the establishment of an early blanket ban and the integrated countermeasure about the asbestos that was called "Quiet time bomb" to cause the fell disease such as the mesothelioma and cancer through the incubation period of tens of years after the dust had been inhaled into the inside of the body for years.

Machine builder major "Kubota" announced former employee and neighbourhood's asbestos troubles for the first time in July this year. This BANJAN pointed out, "The health injury has the hazard that had extended to not only the worker who was breathing in asbestos but even also the neighbourhood in the shop and the exposure having syndrome person of the asbesto containing product" the damage realities gradually clarified starting with the dissemination.

It expressed concern , saying that "It is a situation to be predictable of the enlargement of the public nuisance and environmental pollution". Moreover, this BANJAN was stressed, "We could not help saying that the responsibility of the country and the enterprise was extremely large".

It is because the government greatly takes the delay from the overall ban policy by developed countries, and Japan did not execute an enough regulation though the government was recognizing the hazard of asbestos.
And, inconsistent of the asbestos management of the enterprise and information non-disclosure to people caused the enlargement of damage.

In order to request the achievement at the early stage of a drastic, overall countermeasure, this BANJAN fil the signature to next year's next regular session of the Diet.
